Demo for CA Summit

What is a blog?

Online journal
1 to 1 feedback...
An essay expressing an opinion publicly
Blogs can be damaging... throwing up on the internet
Immediate comments/feedback...
Can be informative, how to, etc...

What is the read/write web (web 2.0)?

You can interact with what you see... and others who do also
Literacy becomes more important

What do these technologies mean for you and your students?

Could be instead of a newsletter...
A forum to practice writing for the public...
Need to learn to use it constructively not just socially
And to effect change...
Ettiquette becomes an issue...
Digital lab reports
Positive Digital Footprint
You have to begin teaching these issues early..
We're not the only expert in the room...

Demo for HK Summit

I'm here with dedicated educators learning on the weekend at HKIS. I'm asking them these three familiar questions:

1. What is a blog?

A running record of what's happening...
A public journal...
An opportunity to communicate...
A way toi self reflect and have other reflect on your learning...

2. What is the two-way web or web 2.0?

Interaction...
Feedback...
Creative...

3. What do blogs and the read/write web mean in education?

Student voice...
Democracy...
Developing thinking processes...
A place to risk take...
Dynamic...

And now I'm adding some media... as a demo of course.

AB Summit Reflection

I've shared a few stories and examples... but that's very "one-way"... it's time for all of you to comment. Please share... what is one thing you've already learned in this session - or what do you want to do with blogs in your role as an educator?
